Midsummer 'Beebz !st Juried Show

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 25, 2008, 8:34 PM
I may have debated that I did NOT forge the wire...but the judge apparently was happy that I met the most important criterion: All the pieces are hand fabricated.

However, she went on, "There is a great big white cat hair in your display case!"

Oops.

Thank you, DA friends, so much for your inspiration. I'm growing according to plan, slowly, an hour or two a day. I wish I could act upon all the ideas your works trigger in my heart.

I

Make Hay Season

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 27, 2008, 8:32 AM
In the agriculture industry this is an important time of year. And the peak of it for my little branch of horticulture sales is almost over. Whew!
I even got to the lapidary club recently and cut and dopped up about 4 cabs of Arizona Turquoise. The rest of the rock was so matrixy that it will end up on my driveway.
My little piece Rose Moon will end up in a show at a local arts centre in July along with a Byzantine chain created for my husband's birthday...3days left to finish that one! Sort of a his and hers version of the same theme. The "His" being much plainer of course, males being already beautiful enough...

Battling the Blargs

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 1, 2008, 12:03 PM
We've had a lot of rain lately and my garden chores are piling up. On my front porch. With all the rocks. I've got most of my veggie garden in. Heavy on the onions.
All those perennials that I bought at bargain prices last fall are doing well in the cold frame. And must be moved soon so I can put lettuce crop #3 in. Yes, I had lettuce this winter.
Those gorgeous oriental poppies are blooming, as are well, dozens of cultivars of flowers on our tiny lot. Come visit me and I'll send you home with a fragrant boquet, some fresh cilantro, parsley, lettuces and some radishes.
I've been lolling in bed. Not Laugh-out-louding either. I've been beset with the blargs for a month. The blargs meaning a combination flu/fatigue and just plain fed up with RAIN.
So - I've taken my jewelry to bed. And that means beading. The cats love it and do their best to participate in the design process.
I really want to thank my DA friends for keeping me e-company during this time.
Blessings to

Ah Spring, when both front and back yard have a layer of gold floating above them. I'd like to mimic the look with some reticulated metal and opaque yellow stones...
Yesterday a solitary honey bee ventured into my yard. So sad, only one. Perhaps picking up some glyphosate/2-4-D free pollen in hopes of bolstering his immune system against CCD? (Colony Collapse Dissorder)[link]
36% fewer bees than last year and I can talk only about half of my customers out of buying herbicides/pesticides. Good news though, at least here in BC we will be removing all the 2-4-D/ glyphosate and Carbarlys in Nov. Yup last season for legal sale of those nasties...

Lapi notes:
Tomorrow I'll be cabbing my way through as much of my lump of matrixy turquoise as I can in two hours.

Meanwhile husband, son and the intrepid rockhound Jessy(she only likes round rocks of a certain size, sticks her whole head in the icy water to get 'em) pan for gold in the creek. At least they think it's gold. It's rather angular and streaks brown when rubbed on papar... but they're having fun.
Yours,
'Beebz
